When it comes to improving a competitive business climate, both South Carolina and North Carolina rank highly, Swenson said. “We compete on different levels; we’re in a healthy ‘cooper-tition’ in our marketplace here.”
South Carolina competes in different ways than North Carolina, he said, allowing the entire region to benefit from the range of choices that companies in this area are offered. York County is the second-largest populated county in the Charlotte metro area.
From March 2016 to March 2017, the county led the nation in job growth, Swenson said. “We’re one of the ring counties outside of Charlotte that’s bringing it, folks,” he said.
